First Place
A cobra by itself stands out, but a cobra with a custom paint job stands out even more. I have had so many comments praising the paint job. It truly is amzaing how well it turned out. Officially, it is a Marbleized Organic Kandy Apple Green with a Ghosted Stripe with slight gold flake on the stripe. Unofficially, it is Amazing! I have only entered the car in one show, the 2004 Kool April Nites car show up in Redding. The car was nearly done, with the exception of the interior, which wasn't finished. I didn't see another car there that wasn't finished and didn't expect any kind of placement in the competition. But, to my surprise I walked away with a first place finish in "Most Creative Use Of Paint"...very nice.
The car takes on so many different looks, depending on the lighting. Sometimes it looks dark and you can't see the marbleizing. Othertimes, it looks brilliant, and at times you do or do not notice the stripe, which is ghosted. A ghosted stripe is one that sits down within the paint, not at the surface.
I actually helped with this part of the car, and it was awesome. The technique to make the pattern required quick decisive steps. I forget the final count, but as memory serves it has 15 or 17 coats of paint. It was painted by a noted expert who has had dozens of his cars grace the cover of Hot Rod Magazine over the years. You will also find the same paint on the backsides of the hood and trunk lids. Photographs don't do the paint justice - it is hard to catch all the various aspects as the car comes alive as you walk around it.
